Staff![]() Janet Yamada Soto, PT, FAAOMPTJanet Yamada Soto received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia. She received certification from the Kaiser Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program in Hayward, where she taught from 1983 to 1997. She founded Berkeley Physical Therapy in 1984. She specializes in musculoskeletal disorders. She is a member of the Special Projects Committee of the Institute for the Advancement of Orthopedic Physical Therapy, a consultant to the Kaiser Hayward Physical Therapy Fellowship in Advanced Orthopedic Manual Therapy, and has participated in research projects in physical therapy. Allan Horwitz, PT, FAAOMPTAllan Horwitz received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1975. In 1983 he received certification from the Kaiser Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program, where he has been teaching since 1985. He specializes in musculoskeletal disorders, especially spinal care, shoulder rehabilitation, and foot disorders, including fabrication of orthotics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapists. He also consults and teaches seminars in office ergonomics. Diane Kern, PTDiane Kern graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1976. She has a wide range of experience, from treating athletes at the professional, college and high school levels, to having a strong geriatric base. Her special interests include working with athletic injuries (especially runners), aquatic exercise, and postural and balance problems. Scott Smith, PTScott Smith graduated with a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences, an osteopathic-based school. His professional interests include treating spinal disorders, repetitive strain and sports-related injuries, using ergodynamic, posture and yoga based approaches. His training includes Pilates and postural strengthening, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and agility and balance training. Scott es fluente en Español. Justin Fischer, PT, DPTJustin graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Pacific University in Hillsboro, OR. He received certification as a Certified Level III Manual Therapist from the Kaiser Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program in Hayward in February 2010. Justin specializes in musculoskeletal disorders, especially spinal care with particular interest in cervical headaches, and has advanced training in Maitland and Mulligan manual orthopedic physical therapy techniques. In addition to a strong manual therapy background, Justin has extensive experience training recreational and collegiate level athletes of all ages in sport specific plyometric and resistance training programs as well as biomechanical running, throwing, and skating analyses. Justin remains actively involved in the Physical Therapy profession as a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. |
